Posted August 25, 2018 11:12:56Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said he’s “ready” to go after the preseason opener.

The Cowboys are still on bye, but Garrett said they are going to go through their normal preparations and will go out with a bang.

“We’re going to get on the field, play some football and have a good preseason,” Garrett said.

“Then when the preseason starts, we’re going out there and we’re gonna go out and play some ball.”

The Cowboys are hoping to be on the road for the first time in two weeks.

They play a Thursday night game against the Chicago Bears, but the Cowboys have played their final four games on the west coast.

“There’s a lot of things we need to fix with our team,” Garrett told reporters Tuesday.

“It’s not a game we’re ready for.

We’ve got a good team. “

I feel like we’re on the right path.

We’ve got a good team.

I know it’s a good time to get back to it.”

Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray is expected to be out four to six weeks with a knee injury.

He played in his first game for the Cowboys on Saturday, rushing for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Murray is the Cowboys’ leading rusher, averaging 4.8 yards per carry.

The first-round pick has never played in a regular season game.

“We’re gonna make sure that we take care of our business this preseason,” Murray said.
