RTE Sports has revealed the results of its annual chess ranking, ranking No. 1 in the world.

The world No.2 and No.3, respectively, are both in the quarter-finals of the Chess World Cup in Stuttgart, Germany.

The world No 1 ranked player is Magnus Carlsen, who is in the semifinals of the tournament.

The winner of the Grand Chess Tour in December, Carlsen is now ranked No. 3 in the World Chess Ranking, a new record.

The Chess World Champion will face No. 4 Levon Aronian in the Grand Final, a World Cup semi-final, in St. Petersburg, Russia.

The grandmaster is the only player in the Top 10 to have won the World Cup, beating world number one and defending champion Garry Kasparov.

The last time Carlsen was in the same position was in 2006.

The German, who was crowned the World Champion in 2014, has won five Grand Tours since and the last time he was in that position was back in 2009.
